We Don’t Believe In a Fear-Based Model of Recovery
Many traditional programs – from psychotherapy to 12-step programs are often based on fear. This means that you must be hyper vigilant about staying away from your “triggers” (certain people, places or things) that will lead you back to your addictions or compulsions. While this approach can be effective for some people, through time, many of those fortunate few find themselves asking, “Is this as good as it gets?”
Worse, it leaves the less unfortunate in a “relapse” cycle of pain and desperation. When your life is only about “symptom management”, you still have the “hole in the soul”. Our approach is about the “carrot” rather than the “stick”. When you are recovered (mind, body, soul, spirit), you are able to access your peace, passion and meaning for life. When your deep desires are being met, it is amazing how your cravings and compulsions fall away.
